GenIII 5.3l in 06 CTS So I bought a 06 CAD CTS with a spun bearing with plans of swapping in a 5.3l truck engine and 4l60. Any thoughts on what oil pan will be needed? I don't think a truck pan will work for me. I'm new to the ls engine so may have alot of question so help will be greatly appreciated. I will add pics during transplant. I haven't bought the truck yet so if 5.3l wont work maybe there is reasonable alternative. Keep in mind if I could afford the v model I would already have it.

If the front cross members are the same between the v and non v models, then you can just use the CTS-V pan...

You might be fucked...Looking at the CTS and the CTS-V pictures, it looks like the crossmember might have been different:

My guess is that the engine cradle is removable and the easiest thing to do might be to get a V cradle, then you can use the CTS-V pan.

On any of these "late model" swaps, there'll be a whole lot of "gotchas" before you're up and running. Even going from a CTS to a "V", there's gonna be a ton of differences in everything from basic hardware to wiring to computer(s)...

Every swap has it's snaggs and frustrations. If you can make a stand alone harness for your motor and trans how hard can it be or am I missing something with the other systems in these newer cars? I.E. the BCM. I have heard about Caddy using the CANBUS and people having issues with integrating a stand alone harness with the CANBUS system. Anybody have any input or experience with the canbus systems?
