Boosted C10 swap
Originally the truck was purchased by my brother, it was packing a worn out 350. So after about a month of him owning it, we swapped in a H/C/I 5.3 with a edelbrock carb intake and 750cfm preform carb. I purchased the truck shortly after this and decided to scrap the foxbody swap I was building and throw the drivetrain into the C10.
Drivetrain details:
347 ls1
Emusa BOV and WG
Ebay A&A Intercooler
Jakes performance TH400
Hughes 4000 stall
3:08 gears
Standalone harness built by Joe Lopez
The PTE 88mm I was using took a **** after maybe 100 miles so I replaced it with a 80mm GT45 from Viren at VS racing. Great unit, so far it has 4x the mileage that PTE had on it
No power numbers or track times yet. Currently I'm using one of Denmahs tunes the closely resembled my setup, just to get the truck driving and allow any flaws to come out now rather then when tuning starts.
I can honestly say I have absolutely "No Ragrets", as to ditching the foxbody and and starting this build. Its awesome to get the attention of old school hot rodders while still retaining attention from the new school guys such as many of us on here.
Hopefully I can get in touch with my tuner and get to working on the tune before the snow falls.
Here's some pics!
I did convert to hydroboost, possibly the best mod I've ever done to the truck aside from the engine swap, it has discs in the front and drum rears. I was originally going to convert the rears to disc using fbody calipers but after the hydro boost conversion there is no lack of braking power, so for now it can wait for rear discs.
Suspension is just a 4/6 drop springs, I'll be making some 2" lowering blocks soon to level the rear out. I did have the truck bagged at one time and absolutely hated it compared to a static drop.
Can't really think of anything else off hand, I'm most likely going to swap to a '67-'68 style fiberglass front clip in the future to help drop some weight and go to the more tasteful front clip, along with adding a rear roll pan. Strongly considering using some coilovers I have from my foxbody and throwing them on the rear of the truck.
