Default puzzled about fuel lines

I am doing a ls swap on my 87 Chevrolet truck out of a 2000 5.7 Z28 . The conversion books and everywhere I've read on the Web says to use the Corvette filter and regulator ,it has one line going to the fuel rail and one line from the pump and a return one the back side . My question is why are there 2 lines coming out of my return? Is one the Evap line? If it is the evap line can I just run it into the charcoal canister on my truck ? Please help with this, I am confused and am anxious to hear my truck run with a modern power plant!

The corvette fuel filter has 3 connections. One from the pump, one to the fuel rail, and one for the return line. I cant tell you what connection is for what though.

Thanks Chevy owner for your help ,I understand how the regulator works ,I just don't know what both fuel lines coming off the fuel rail are. I know one is the supply line but is the other for the evap line? If so can I just run it to my evap canister?

Are you sure that both lines are coming off the fuel rail? One 3/8 and one 5/16 about an inch or so apart? If that's the case you may have a '97-98 Corvette fuel rail, in which case one is a feed and one is a return. Can you post a pic?

If you're running a Vette filter/regulator in the rear, you only need one fuel rail connection. It wouldn't be an evap connection, that would come off the intake somewhere (I believe). If you have 2 fuel rail connections you could either block one off or replace it.

If your truck had an evap system before, you can run your existing evap line from your tank straight to a charcoal canister for venting purposes. That way you could just delete any evap components from the ECU.
