Default 98 c1500 5.3 swap

So I've been working on a 5.3 swap in my 98 GMC for a little while now. I'm getting to the point where i'm actually getting ready to drive it and take it home from the shop.
However, I need to do something about the intake. Right now since i haven't driven it yet i'm just running the MAF right off the throttle body with nothing else. I'm going to need to figure something out for an intake.
I've looked into maybe an aftermarket cold air for 2010+ Camaro, since they sweep to the drivers side and are just about a 90 degree bend.
If that would work or if anyone has any recommendations for me that'd be great.

you can try a filter kit for a newer truck. thats what im going to do on my skyark 5.3 swap. found cold air kits on ebay fo $60. it will work by just cutting mounts off airtube & make my own bracket to hold in place.

That was actually the first thing I looked at doing. But all the intakes on the newer trucks lay to the passenger side. The battery on the truck was originally on the passenger side and i'd like to keep it that way. Hence why I thought about using an intake for a camaro. i just don't know if it would be too long or too short.

The hummer h2 cold air kit will keep.the battery in the stock location and even retain the air inlet in the pass fender.

im not using it towards the passenger side i just going to aim it behind driver headlight as you can use either end of tube how you see fit. just rotate parts to how it works best. for $60 bucks its hard to buy a bunch of pieces for that amount. you can cut the tube shorter if need to.

I understand that you can just position it however fit. but for the truck intakes, they have a downward angle to the passenger side, so if i flip it to the driver side, it'll be sticking up in the air. And as for the H2 intake, i could look into that.

Here's a pic I found that shows how far back it sits leaving plenty of room for the battery.

I think i'll go and make my own. I'm also running dirty dingo a/c and alternator brackets, since on this truck if you use a/c you have to relocate it to the top passenger side. i don't think the intake in that picture will clear it enough, if at all. I'll keep looking around to see what i can find.

It sounds like your already to far to change, but if you were to use lextechs a/c bracket you can keep the stock 98 compressor in the stock location with no modifications to the ac system at all.

This is the motor once I got both the brackets bolted on. The old harness is still in this picture. I got a painless harness for it now. As for the intake, I didn't think the Hummer intake would clear the bracket, and I cant use a truck intake for the 5.3 without relocating the battery which I don't feel like doing. So I checked out AEM, and got a couple things to make the intake myself. I'll post a picture once that's done for everyone to see. And i'll get some more pictures of everything when i get back up to the shop.
