2nd gen hooker headers and ls7 accessories?

Default 2nd gen hooker headers and ls7 accessories?

hey guys I was wondering if anyone has used the ls7 accessory kit with the hooker/holley headers and mount kit?

Are you sold on the HOOKER brand? I don't see why the Vettet FEAD would matter. Only concern I would have, would be using HOOKER mounts and a 4th gen Camaro FEAD.

Reason I was askin about the hooker stuff is I like the design of the new headers and the one piece motor mount on the block instead of two pieces bolted together. Also when I tried the fbody stuff with the current brackets that put engine in stock location my alternator was hitting the steering. I was wanting to use the ls7 fead kit because of ease of getting replacement parts.... Not having to try to match something to make it fit

The engine position provided by the Hooker brackets is directly compatible with the 4th-gen F-body FEAD on cars that are equipped with the factory "dropped" pitman arm/center link components, which would include the Trans Am and 80-81 Z28 Camaros. I found a couple of specialty wrecking yards that sell these parts online during my development research. It the engine was placed high enough to allow the "straight" pitman arm to clear the 4th-gen alternator it would result in unfavorable engine inclination/U-joint working angles.

To the OP, I'll do a little digging to see if I can determine the compatibility of the brackets with the LS7 accessory drive set-up.

If you didn't purchase the Vette FEAD yet but still wanted to go this route VS. Fbody, I believe HOLLey has their FEAD setup based off the GM Vette design. Looks awesome to me. IIRC, it uses common alternator vs. the Vette specific (and pricey) alt the GM or GMPP FEAD uses. If you have the fbody FEAD and don't want to dick around, you can use that. They also sell a spacer that spaces it out to the tight Vette balancer, midbalancer(Fbody/GTO ->?) and truck/Camaro5 balancer.

I still think the HOLLEY FEAD is the best deal out there if you want OEM appearance and want something that's new.

ya I had bought the vette kit about 3 weeks ago..... at 825 versus the 1100 for the holley kit that's comparible as far as the contents go. I can still return the kit... the nice thing is I bought it on the chevy account at the shop instead of mailorder and I have no shipping on it that way.

ok problem solved returning the gmpp ls7 accessories and holley kit on the way.
