Default L33 into a F-body

Not really sure where to post this so feel free to move it mods.
I blew the rings in my 95 Z. M6 car. Looks like $5600 (outta the price) to rebuild the motor. I was considering throwing in a 5.3, and came across a L33 with a great price. Anything drastically different on these motors since they were sideways in the car? Would it be just as simple of a swap as a truck's 5.3? Please let me know ASAP

The l33 is a aluminum version of a lm7 with 799/243 heads and flat tops. It was in some of the 2005-07 silverados and sierras. The ls4 is the one that was sideways in the cars. The ls4 has a different transmission bolt pattern and i dont think a 4l60e/80e will bolt up to it and the intake also is different with a few other things.

You should also really research all of the details of the swap, there are a lot of both big and small details that can really nickle and dime you to death on a project like this. You may be better off buying a complete LS1 f body that has either been wrecked or is just in really bad shape and swapping everything to your car.

Exactly what i did. First had a v6 camaro and later bought a wrecked ls1 car and just swap everything over. Best way to aviod problems. Can be really irritating if youre almost done and youre missing a bolt or any small detail.

Take the accessory's, intake, and pan off your ls1 and I would think it should bolt it. Dont quote me on this, but I believe if you have both a complete ls1, and your l33 long block you will be able to take everything off your ls1, and bolt it in your car no problem.

They are both gen 3 motors, with the same bolt patterns.

*POOF* it's moved!

You'll need a K-frame for a LS1 car, an entire F-body LS1 engine harness & PCM (1998 so it works the gauges) and transmission to match the LS1 PCM.

Look for a 99-02 F-body full pull out with k- member and rack and pinion. You will need to get the vats removed from the ls1 computer and also set the computer to run the Lt1 tach. You will also need to re pin the ls1 harness and extend a couple wires. You will need a corvette filter/regulator combo.
