Default LS3 vs LS6 heads for lq4?

Looking into doing a head swap on an lq4 that will be going into a Jeep CJ7. I want overall power, peak power is great but I dont want to give up all bottom end to get to a peak number. What head would be best suited for the application? I have heard the smaller cathedral ports can be better to make low end torque and overall power, where the ls3 is more high end rpm. What is your guys recommendations? Eventually the motor may be stroked to 402-408, but for now thinking it will probably be stock bottom end.

The jeep does not see any time rock crawling, mostly street cruiser, snow and sand dunes. It will see some sand drags and a few trips to 1/4 mile just for fun. I currently have a 2400-2800 stall in th350 with a sbc. Cam size will most likely be a 224/228 and havent decided if I will be keeping the th350 or 4l60e but if I go 4l60e it will get a stall also.

The LS3 head will make more jam than almost all cathedrals BUT they are a bit lazy on smaller cubes and in my experience have proven a bit tricky to cam for weight. LS3 heads also trickier with ptv clearance concerns but have no doubt, they make power!

At the stage your at, I'd build the iron block LS3 and back it with a 4L60e-4L80e. It's all in the heads. I used an aftermarket square port head and an LS3 intake w/92mm throttle body. PLENTY of power, and backed it with a 4L60e with a 3600 Vigilante convertor, finishing it off with a set of 3:73's in the rear. Beast is an understatement, and your mom could take it to the grocery store...(maybe)

My vote is for LS3 heads.

Worth a mention too that if you go the LS3 head? You'll want to look into some different grinds than the one you posted which I like a lot for cathedrals, but id split it up more for the square port swap. Something like 220/228 or thereabouts.
