Carbed 5.3 transmission
1. I was thinking of running a 4180e, what would be necessary in getting this to shift correctly?
2. will a 4180e fit in a foxbody?
3. Will I need any additional parts?
4. What torque converter? car will need to be streetable.
5. What kind of power is a 4180e good for and is this a good option?
(2)I don't have an answer as far as if it will fit without modification.
(3) Crossmember and have a driveshaft made.
(4) Depends on your budget but I would look at what you can afford and buy the one above that one, With converters you get what you pay for, I personally will be buying one with an antiballooning plate and around 2,800 stall since my engine is running a blower will be making around 600ftlbs of torque at less than 3,000 rpms a nitrous converter should be similar to a blower motor converter wise. I would call one of the sponsor and see what they recommend for your combination.
(5) I've read that a stock 4l80E with Transgo HD2 shift kit should be able to handle 700 without any problems. Yes, it's a great option. It's a tried and true trans that will hold some serious power with little modification.
Edit: Here is a thread with a user who is running a mustang with a 4l80E you might try to contact them and see if they can answer some questions about their swap https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...ing-shift.html

I'm assuming the trans can only operate in manual mode though?
