Researching for a year. Still need help on build.
I will start this off by saying that I am learning all this on my own and have never been taught anything so my questions may be extremely dumb...but I want to learn anyway.
I have a 1967 Camaro. I have an LS1 out of a 1997 Vette (auto) that I am currently rebuilding. (again teaching myself as I go) and a T56 out of a 1998 Ws6. I got the entire harness and ECM off of the Vette.
Question 1: Before I go any farther with this, is there any reason these will not be compatible? Will I need anything extra? I assume a bell housing will fit without an problems? (I do not have it yet)
Question 2: I have read tons of threads on here and literally researched this for a year as I collected my parts... but I cannot find a straight forward answer on the wiring harness. What exactly will I need to have modified? Auto to Manual? AC? Etc?
These are just the tip of the iceberg but I figured it was time I asked directly for some answers.
Thanks for any help.

Your motor and trans combo should work perfectly together as long as you get the correct flywheel/bellhousing combo.
Yes you will need to have the harness modified from auto to manual with a much shorter length since the trans will be at the engine rather then at the differential.
Personally I would look into a new harness and ECM. The 1997 ECM is different from the 411 ECMs that most are using in their swaps and might not be as easily reflashed.

Hey Sporty,
Our LS1 swap harness is an option for you that would take out the confusion. It's a standalone harness that doesn't require anything extra. You'll merge it into your chassis harness via your ignition coil 12v key on/running wire. We also have a chassis harness that would support that Camaro as well.
Let me know if I can help answer any questions.

dlove,
The link took me to a 98+ listing. Would that work or would I have to have the 97 Vette harness that requires all the extra components (TAC, Pedal sensor, etc)? Also, do I have to have new ECM with any of the harnesses or just the 97 Vette one? Thanks!

You will need all the mating parts. (The manual has a break down of everything). We recommend the 0411 computer.
