Default Long Tube Headers for LS in CJ7

Just what it says. Need some. Only evidence of this I have found (and lost it) was a video of a guy selling a LQ9-swapped CJ that had some long tubes that exited somewhere under the fender and ran to glasspacks and sidepipes outside the frame under the door. Not my thing at all but would have been a starting point.

What do you guys think? If nothing available, what would be the best header to start cutting up and bending?

Thanks!

Gotta build your own. And as you discovered, most here aren't interested in doing that.

Biggest problem you're going to have with a CJ is the frame is narrow, and if you're going to do longtubes, they'll pretty much have to exit outside the framerail.

I have a full tube chassis buggy with a fullsize TJ nose, so not the same as a CJ but not far off. I wanted 1 3/4" primaries, and 3" collectors and nobody makes headers like that for Jeeps or buggies, so I built a set of longtubes that exit in the subframe. I used a Summit SUM-670186 1 3/4" mild steel weld up kit, Summit SUM-670193 LS1 flanges, and Summit SUM-694300 v-band clamps.

I was into them around $240 before coating, and less than $500 after coating.

Nice. Thank you for the guidance. I really want to *try* to stay inside the frame. I have a friend that says if I just tack it up(about all I am capable of) he will do all the pretty/functional welds for me. This is totally a street machine and just has the tall tires for proper look, so ground clearance isn't really a big concern. I will look into that kit for sure. I've got $500 just in the set of coated shorties from Sanderson on there now so that price tag is pretty nice. It is sounding and running pretty well now but LTs will just put it over the top.

Thanks again!

I know this is older but I don't want to start another nearly identical thread for a Jeep not under the knife yet. I too wanted in frame headers for my CJ8 when I switched engines. At the time I was going with a Chevy 305. I bought swap mid length headers for it. One side fit great. The other wasn't bad but the collecter is at a bad angle and luckily there was enough adjustment in the down pipe to work. Then the exhaust shop had to crush in the exhaust pipe a little to get it around the transfercase. I'm wanting to get back racing it again and looking at the rules I need to go to an LS to have a big advantage. This time I'm going with fenderwell headers so there's no worries about clearance. Has anyone ran these? Advance Adapters makes a set but I can't find any threads or reviews about them.
