Default 1965 Cutlass engine mounting location

I am gathering parts for my 5.3 LM7 swap using a Holley Terminator throttle body and have my Holley 302-2 pan, hooker cast headers, small block Chev frame mounts for the engine and I am trying to find info on what engine mounts to use.. stock location, forward or back of stock.

I would like it to bolt right up to my 200R4 Trans without having to cut the driveshaft if possible (I have the trans adapter kit)

I tried searching the threads but cant find anything. Has anyone tried the new CPP adjustable engine mounts?

Great site by the way and tons of info. Enough to make my head swim

In my 82 silverado I used the dirty dingo mounts to keep from having to change my driveshaft. I think 1" setback plates will put an LS in the stock SBC location. To make sure I measured from the back of the block to the front of the clamshells on my SBC then made sure the dirty dingo mounts were the same distance on the LS. I'm not sure how similar our vehicles are, but maybe you can use the same technique to find the mounts you need.

I can tell you on my 72 cutlass, I used the chevy frame mounts (my crossmember was already drilled for them) and 1" setback plates like the link below. The 5.3 bolted to the Muncie and was within 1/4" of the original position.

As already stated a 1" setback mount will place the motor in the original trans location. There are several different mounts out there that will do what you are looking for. I used the Dirty Dingo double D mounts on my swap. They also make a slider mount that's allows you to move all over the place.

So one inch back sounds like the way to go. I will look for those. Thanks to all that posted!

I made my on engine mounts in my 65 cutlass using f-body frame mounts and engine mounts. Let me put the engine where I wanted it. Pretty easy to do. There weren't many options for the cutlass when I did my swap a few years back as far as mounts go.

I was originally planning my swap around the same time you did yours but I decided to give my Olds 455 one last chance. Should have listened to my inner voice and done the swap when you did. Nice to see that you still own the car by the way.

throw some good aluminum heads on the 455. those are good torque builder motors. just heavy.

I sure thought about it but for the 3 thousand that would cost (with all the rockers etc) Im not sure I want to spend any more money on old technology. I already had a Holley Terminator FI on it. just need to add some wires to run the 5.3

These are the mounts I used on my 64 swap. 66 uses them as well.

Just curious do the chevelle frame mounts match the cutlass frame holes? Seems like they are different best I remember but I could be wrong.

2 styles to chose from, just gotta measure your frame mounts.

Yes they do match. Did the swap once before a few years ago . At least on the Canadian Cutlass frame they did.

Don't know how you measure the early L shaped frame mounts but it looks like short and wide ?

If you're replacing the Olds frame mounts with chevy frame mounts, you can size using these dimensions.
