Question GPS Speedo with no VSS

I just got the 01 LS1 w/4l60e installed in my 68 Nova around Memorial Day weekend. I had AKNovaman do my harness work. I purchased and am using a Speedhut GPS speedo. On my harness there is of course the VSS wire. I am still working a few other bugs out on the car overall but have a question. Can the car run without the VSS wire hooked up? Obviously my gauge has no output for a speed signal since that is performed through the antenna that hooks to the gauge itself. If the answer to my question is yes then how do I go about giving a signal to my PCM?

Yes. That wire is an output which would go to the electronic speedo. The pcm receives the input signal from the vehicle speed sensor which is at the back of the trans tailshaft.
