Cooling fan and O2 sensor issues
So where do I go from here? It's a speartech harness and everything is pinned correctly. I spoke with john and he said they check all harnesses before they leave and it worked correctly. So, since I physically ground the wires and the fans go on, that means that there is either an issue in my tune or ecm correct?
Other issue is I have the black square O2 sensor connectors and I bought O2 sensor part number 13444. My tuner says that they are just sitting there in default.
Any thoughts at all on either of these issues. I am at my whits end with this. Any and all help is greatly welcomed. Thank you
Daniel
If you have a tech 2 or after about two minutes on blue/red PCM or 4 minutes at idle on a blue/green PCM the short term fuel trims should start trimming out. Unless your tuner has disabled something.
Did speartech do the ECM and did anything work before the tuner started dabbling?
The fans on a speartech tune typically come on around 192-200 degrees I believe. So let your car warmup and see if the primary comes on around there (If speartech did the tune) Truck computers by default don't typically utilize fans and if you didn't get PCM from Speartech then the fans may be disabled and need to be altered in HP Tuners or the like.
Speartech did not do any tuning for me, I did call john today and he said they check the harness before it leaves to make sure everything works correctly.
My tuner tried to command the fans on yesterday and we got nothing.
From everything that I have read and from talking to people today, it seems like there is an issue either in the pcm or the tuning. I'm going to call the tuner tomorrow and talk to him about that.
Just for fun I checked and verified that the O2 sensors connectors were wired correctly for a ls1 camaro and they were. I double checked my ground on the back of the head and it seems good. All other chasis grounds were good too.
Thank you so much for your thoughts bud! I really appreciate it. If you have any other thoughts please feel free
The Gen III trucks typically didn't have the fans enabled in the calibration from the factory. I'm not sure what software your tuner is using, but I know HP Tuners can change this setting. If I remember correctly the fans won't work at all unless the setting(s) are proper. On a stock truck calibration one fan output controls the AC recirculation door or something and I can't remember what the other pin does.
Good luck and hope you can get it sorted.
