Default 1956 f100

Hi all,

I have a 1956 F100, 6 cyl I want to swap a LS base into. I was hoping to get some help with the following:

1. Other than adding blocking plates for IFS/IRS setups to the frame, what else should I do to strengthen the original frame for the added power?

2. Has anyone used the motor mounts for the LS swap from Mid-Fifties website? If so, what were somethings you did or didn't like about the placement for the engine?

3. Anyone have a good write up or thread covering their build for this type, I have looked but am sure I have just missed it or just haven't found what I am looking for.

Thanks and looking forward to learning more from you all,

Volition

Hey,
I swapped in an L92 6L80 to my 51 ford F1
Very happy with the results.

Here's a photo chronicle of my swap.

If I did mine again I'd have used the C5 or C6 pedestal motor mounts and just build an adapter for them to mount. They should be cheap used, do a good job with isolation and clear well- made and high performance but OEM manifolds. I used LS3 exhaust manifold and didn't want to deal with headers. The frame is very narrow so these were some only options. I like that stock they Re good for 500ish HP.
My setup dynod stock at 340hp and 350 ft lbs at the wheels.

I did close off some of the frame front and rear and also added some 3x3". Cross members in both front and read for suspension mounting. Not sure that is necessary.

If I was starting from scratch I'd have used the corvette control arms vs. heidts. My truck came with the heidts.
