Default Affordable dual exhaust

Here is how I did the exhaust on my 72 Malibu lq9/4l80e.
I reused the Flowmaster mufflers & dumps.
The headers were built with ball/socket flanges because I find they seal much better than the traditional flat flange/gasket.
The O2 sensors are positioned between the trans and floor pan.
The H-pipe kit is from Flowmaster(75$). They swedge the ends of the pipe instead of making you use couplings.
The mandrel S-bends are from Headman (35$).
The straight pipe is from the local exhaust shop (30$). I had them swedge the end of each pipe.
The hangers are from ebay(15$). I bolted them to the body cross support near rear axle.
Everything is easy to install/remove. Works good if you are on a budget or just want to do everything with your own hands.

looks great can't beat the price.

I bought a complete stainless 2 1/2 MagnaFlow a few years ago for just under $400.00 with polished mufflers and a X pipe. fit great but have not fired the engine yet.

Is your kit a weld up kit or does it use clamps?
I've never tried clamps, but see a lot of kits for sale that use them. I have always wondered how well they work.

Clamps but not the standard muffler style. They are one inch wide stainless band clamps.

I used ebay v-band clamps with Summit mandrel bends on the last car. It's pretty inexpensive, but time consuming. Works well if you have a chassis that requires a bunch of bends and the muffler shop quotes you something crazy.

I used to go the ball/socket route and this is my first personal use of v-bands. So far I like them, I'll see how they hold up.
