suggestions for pulling a motor by yourself at a u-pull yard
I'm looking for a 5.3 for a cutlass project, and spotted a couple at the local u-pull place today. After adding up all the extra charges (they charge extra for alt, starter, ps pump, starter etc), I think it'll be around 450 for the dropout.
Their policy is you unbolt/unhook everything they will pick it up and set it in your truck.
Any tips for doing this alone with only hand tools? (have a cordless sawzall, and 1/4" impact)
Any specialty tools or oddball stuff I will need?
I'm worried about wasting an entire day, and not getting it.

penetrate spray for rusty bolts, swivel sockets, good set of wrenches, cutters, pliers, channel locks, door panel tool for wiring holder clips. Like you said cordless tools, pry bar & screwdrivers, line wrenches. advice from me dont cut wiring unless its body side, engine harness can be used. take gas pedal the wiring & tach box. 03 is DBW throttle, pcm too. depending on what putting into radiator hoses may work. Save the bolts & also cut fuel lines way back of tranny. Then you can use them as well.
