Question LS1 Novice need harness/ECM help

Ok, I'm putting together a 67 camaro with an LS1. The motor is from a 98/99 TransAM and I bought a ECM on EBAY from a 98 Z28. I planning on using the painless harness which specifies the GM # for the computer that I have. Is there anything I should be aware of before i spend the money on the harness? Without knowing for sure what the motor was out of 98 or 99 I'm a little paranoid about buying the wrong stuff. Or can the computer be flashed to any combination?
Also has anyone been able to get the factory LS1 oilpan (camaro pan) to fit without mods in the 67 camaro chassis???? If so could you give a hint on the motor mounts??

Thanks for any help

Do you have the stock harness for the engine now? If so you can modify it yourself or have some one like speartech modify it for you. You will need to figure what harness you have. 98 and 99 are different

Question Harness

As of yet I dont have a harness, I was looking to buy the painless harness, and use the 98 z computer #16238212. I just dont know what sensors and such the motor has, or wont that be a problem?

You will need a 98 harness if you have a 98 pcm I purchased mine through gmpartsdirect for $255.49 the part number for the stick harness is 12177561. You would also need the two coil harnesses pn: 15301401 $47.38 each. If you went that wrought you would also need to build a VATs module or have the pcm reprogramed to delete it. Which is something you may want to consider to get rid of emissions. I don't know for sure about computability of all the sensors but I think most if not all are compatible from 98 99. This is just some options. I have not personally dealt with speartech but have heard nothing but good about them. Another good investment would be a set of helms manuals

98's have the perimiter bolts on the valve covers, 99 and up have the bolts in the center.
