Cost to build T56 from scratch? Ive been searching for a affordable T56 core that I can rebuild slowly as funds allow and it's much harder than I thought. These things are like gold! Anyhow, I've com across a LS1 style T56 that comes with the bell housing that is affordable but the catch is: it's empty, as in hollow! I know that some of these are completely trashed when rebuilt so they might as well be hollow but what would I be looking at cost wise?

Even if its free that will cost more in the long run.
Keep looking... preferably one that has been rebuilt already as a 15 year old trans is going to need a rebuild soon and increase cost. Check CL and the classifieds on here.

I did as you suggested, nice guys and very informative.
Yeah, I'm going to keep digging and might look into adapting a different type of manual trans. I've read where the TR3650 has been used, maybe that's an option..
