03 Dodge Ram LS swap Has anyone out there swapped an LS motor into the 2003 and up ram? I know the installation should be easy with the adjustable mounts so I am wondering about my factory guages, will I still be able to use them? The only reasons I am wanting to do this swap is I am tired of head and timing chain issues I have been having with the 4.7 motor... Three times now! The truck is paid for and I love how it rides compaired to the GM trucks and its so much easier to install and tune a turbo on the LS motors...lol I would like to hear from anyone that has done this swap and yes I do want to keep it fuel injected and will be using a gm transmission... Hopefully the 4l80E.

Actually lots.The 5.3 will run and is relatively cheap and easy to maintain,repair and get some power out of.On the other hand,the 4.7 was designed to run for 60k miles and be disposed of.I would just turf that Dodge POS and buy a Chevy truck,way simpler and you will likely be happier in the long run.If the gauges are similiar to the Jeep ones,lots of swappers try to run them by using the stock Jeep pcm,but not many can seem to get the tach to work correctly,have a look at some of the Wrangler swap threads here and elsewhere.
