VSS for cable drive speedos I spent some time to see if this was answered otherwise on LS1tech but after a few days of searching the internet I found this: http://www.gmcopo.com/engineswap.htm
There were a few other technologies out there but this one seems to be the easiest way to get VSS on an old trans. I'm after a 2004r for my 66 Lemans build since its a drop in for the BOP TH350 with little to no modification of the body, crossframe or driveshaft, ofc I'm going to an LS. I know there are smarter people on this subject but I think the 4000 pulses per mile can be calibrated to a stock ecu, correct?

Dakota Digital SEN-01-4160, about $50, works fine.

I tried the Dakota Digital adapter and had nothing but problems with it. It did not put out a steady reading and caused all sorts of shifting issues. The dakota digital was also a nightmare to program for the LS1 pcm and good luck finding help to get it right.
I ended up putting a reluctor wheel on the rear axle and mounted a speed sensor to read it, worked flawless.
