Driveshaft help?? Hey guys first post on here glad to finally join, long time reader. Anyways I recently purchased a 5.3 junkyard motor and will be putting it in a 94 mustang gt, new k member is on its way as we speak. But my question is I have a 4l60e from my old trans am that I'm gonna use for this build and the stang has the 8.8 rear so what are my options on a driveshaft? I still have the driveshaft that was in my trans am(94 model) so do I just take that to a shop and let them handle it or can you buy a direct fit? I already know I must buy a new yoke. Thanks. This is a drag car that I will be spraying a 200 shot on.

For drag racing with spray, I'd upgrade with a new custom fit. Lots of options, probably some forums sponsors to visit. I've had good luck with Driveshaft Specialist out of Texas. Very knowledgeable and helpful on the phone, and their sheet for how to measure makes it easy too.
Driveshaft If you have the front off the 4L60E and the rear flange off the 8.8 then you can take them to a driveshaft builder (or ship to them) and they will build one for you using your front and rear pieces. Who ever you pick to do the driveshaft make curtain where they want the measurements from. I'm building one exactly like this as we speak.
I'd upgrade with any decent power output, but Iif the length is right on your existing shaft the Ford Explorer 'large' driveshaft flange is a 1330 joint.
You could run a Saginaw 3r (what you have now) X 1330 conversion joint at the rear. Get a solid Dana joint that should be good for 700HP. This is what PST told me.
