Question Power steering question dead horse

I know I'm beating a dead horse probably. I've looked up every thread I could through search and everyone's experience seems to be different. I have a corvette accessory drive and I'm adapting the power steering to my factory 73 Nova steering box. I am having to swap the pulley to a smaller dorman one I found on here, to clear my A arms. Since the pressure is already questionable and I'm going to a smaller pulley should I go ahead and order the pressure shim kit and try to drop the pressure or just install it and see how it performs first? I will be running a small cooler on the return hose also.

I would install it and see how it is first. You cant fix a problem until you know it exists.
