Default 72 skylark 5.3 recharging issue

Hi all, so I got my 5.3 with carb into my 72 skylark, and it ran great for about two days until I noticed something was draining my battery, I talked to a friend, and I had ran the alternator to the stock external regulator so I reran it without the old regulator. Car ran good for another two or so days. However once again I noticed something was draining my battery. I am now stumped. I do have the MSD ignition box ran straight to the battery, but I have a relay switch to cut the power so I wasn't sure if that would slowly drain the battery or not. Any help would be great

Do you have a volt gauge? Is the alternator charging the system?

Crude way to figure out a drain, but start pulling fuses with the ignition off. If you see a spark check the circuit.
Have the battery load tested, you might have a bad cell. In batteries new doesn't mean good.
