Default 81 firebird help with low mount alt

81 bird with a 6.0 swap I have the low mount alternator with f body spacing...the problem is the pitman arm hits the alt so I cant turn. What has everyone done to remedy the situation?? cross posted, I wasn't sure where to post the question.

You need to use the pitman arm, idler arm and center link from an early 2nd-gen Trans Am.

The years they were putting Pontiac engines in them...I don't remember the exact engine it was, but the fuel pump was located on the driver side of the engine, which required the use of a dropped pitman arm and matching idler arm and center link to clear the fuel pump.

My 81 TA has the low mounted alt bracket from 2000 Camaro. It cleared everything fine. Came with small block from factory. I did use Dirty Dingo slider mounts with factory clam shell frame mounts. Maybe the mounts raised the motor enough? Don't really know.

That is the difference indeed, your engine is sitting higher.
