Default Fuel Line size requirements

Im having a little bit of a hard time figuring out what I actually need. I am installing an ls2 with around 500 hp into my 75' vette. Body is off right now, so it will be a completely new setup. Im planning on running stainless tubing from the tank to the engine. Problem is, stainless tubing is measured by OD not ID. So a 3/8" stainless line is actually .319 ID instead of .375 (a hair bigger than 5/16" line).

Will this be enough to support the engine? Of course the next step up is 1/2" stainless with a .44" ID, but bending that is going to be fun (Ill do it if I have to). Then the problem becomes, I planned on running the vette fuel filter/regulator, will that work?

Id rather run stainless and never worry about it again vs running plain steel lines.

Thanks!

My CTSV has 3/8 line from the factory and people are using them to push 8-900hp with no issues. My buddy has a 1000+ hp zr1 with a factory fuel system using 3/8 lines.

I think you'll be fine.

3/8" -6AN more than enough for most applications.

I just found out there is actually 7/16" stainless tubing, which is about 3/8" ID. The place I called just doesn't carry it, so they didn't tell me. That should work perfectly. Thanks!

Use 3/8" NiCopp line. Much easier to work with than stainless, less expensive, and just as rust proof.

This is what I have on my LS2. More than enough to support your HP goals. You will not believe how easy the stuff is to cut and flair. I've known more people who have given up on stainless half way through.
