88 Suburban help
So I am afraid I am possibly about to spend more money than I need to and so here I am.
I have a 4.8 complete top to bottom except the wire harness.
I have a 4l80e 2wd with stock converter and stock TCU
Plan to run a divorced np205
Now I want to mate those together and put it in the burb.
The real issue is running it all. I thought carb, msd box, ez tcu which would get me done quick......it will also cost like 2500+ dollars in parts. Got a buddy that can tune if I keep the efi.
However all the efi kits I find Im not even sure will work. Is there a plug and play harness that can handle the 4.8 and 4l80e?
Truck had a tbi 350 and I have a reg going to the carb 350 in it now. The sbc is dying...slowly but dying. The carb needs a rebuild and the fuel system kinda leaks. I fix one area and it leaks somewhere else. I plan on pulling the tank, replacing that. Putting a new pump, and new lines. Id love to run a single metal line with no return to avoid leaks and extra bs. So EFI would be nice in that regard. Oh and efi would be nice mpg wise and reliability wise.
I looked at just leaving the stock harness in to control the lights, windows, wipers and use the truck with no speedo but ill check out the 90/1 burbs in the wrecking yard for speedos.
My buddy said you can get a pcm segmented that runs a 4l60 to run the 80, but he said it operates the 80e more in the mechanical sense. From what ive read doing this has the 80e at full line pressure 24/7 which if im not mistaken will limit the life span of the trans.
I guess I was wondering too if I run a divorced 205 behind the 80e when its in 4x4 and I shift it into say 1st will it cause any fuckery? Like shift up due to the extra load?
