Default Ls6

Thinking about putting an ls6 in my gbody after looking around it doesn't seem like a popular option just wondering if it's not a good option. It's out of a 2006 ctsv. Thanks

LS6 is a wonderful motor and would be perfect for your G-body.

You may have seen that the LS1 and LS6 are not popular options when it comes to boost, but naturally aspirated it will do you just fine.

Boosting an LS1 and LS6 is a waste due to their thin cylinder sleeves not being able to handle the pressure.

Probably not a popular option because they are sorta rare. They only made that motor for a couple of years and I didn't realize they put it in anything but vettes.

GM did improve a number of things on the later motors but there isn't a thing wrong with an LS6. I just wouldn't pay a premium for that motor. LS2/3's have larger bores and can handle the square port heads.

If it's indeed a 2006 cts-v it should be a ls2 not a ls6. I think 2005 was the only year ls1/ls6 for the cts-v.

2004 and 2005 CTS-Vs had the LS6 - about 6700 cars over those 2 years. The V LS6 is essentially the same as the Z06 version, but with different exhaust manifolds and oil pan.

As stated above, if the car is a 2006, then it's got an LS2, not an LS6.
