Fuel Pressure Problems...Won't start
I have a 01 5.3 in my 71 monte. This what I have for a fuel system.
1994 Roadmaster tank w/Walbro pump
Stock 2001 5.3 with fuel regulator / return
When I check tghe voltage going to the pump with the key turned on, I only get around 6 - 8 volts then it goes to 0. I can hear the pump priming and that's it. When I check for pressure theres nothing. I open the schrader valve and get a little air and fuel spray then it goes to nothing.
I also replaced the fuel pump relay ( no difference ). Should I be checking for leaking lines, FPR problems or ground issues?
The pump voltage should be within 1V of the system voltage.
Is there a relay energizing the pump? If not, you need one. Or perhaps you need larger gauge wires to the pump. How long are the wires and what gauge? You might also not have a good ground for the pump.
Yes, it won't start pumping again until it sees movement of the crank position sensor.
