Newbie question on clutch problems Okay, to start off.. Sorry if this isn't in the right category. First time on the site. But, back to my question. I have a 79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon 442 with a carb'd 5.3 and t56 from an f-body camaro.. I have the LS7 clutch assembly. as of right now, if i baby the car, it runs flawlessly.. But, if i get on it at all, the clutch locks up and wont let me get out of gear and if i can get it out, its stuck in neutral until i pull over and pump the pedal a couple times. The pedal never goes soft or gets stiff. It feels the same all the time. I have the tick adjustable master. But either way i adjust it (all the way in or out) and everywhere in between, it doesn't help at all.. We've bled and bled and rebled the fluid system. But because the pedal doesn't go soft, i dont think it's a hydraulic problem. I do know the pressure plate bolts were over torqued when we put it together. The guy that supposedly was trying to help us, torqued the bolts at about 85ft-lbs. So i'm not sure if that's causing the problem or not. Oh, i didn't mention this before. On the ground if i go into neutral and let the clutch out, the car lurches about six inches and then holds itself. And the car lurches going into first. But like i said, clutch pedal feels perfect. So im seriously stumped on this whole thing. Anybody have any ideas?
