I come from a long line of iron S-6's. So moving carefully into the world of AL V8's !!! I've got acouple of just basic questions.
What is the suggested exhaust diameter for dual exhaust for a 5.3 ?
I've also heard that the location of the X pipe ( 1st 3rd, 1/2 the length of the entire system, etc etc ) is important for proper back pressure, and flow.
Going to see if the dealership can show me Something with the locations of the O2 sensor bungs. I assume one will be as close as practical to the header, but need to find out how far the computer is expecting the other one.
Can anybody give me a link to a general discussion of design basics for a custom exhaust ?

Dual 2.5" exhaust is good for any V8 motor up to about 500 hp. If you are planning for more than that, shoot for 3".
X or H pipe should be as close to end of header collector as you can get it, taking into account anything that might be in the way of course.
O2 bungs should be in or near header collector. Secondary O2 bung after the cat (if you intend to run cats and have not deleted the secondary in the tune.
