Power steering pump

The "new" pump got three hoses. Can i block the lower instead of the upper one? The lower one is a bit bent and is a bit flat.

That's a hydroboost pump. The lower one is the return line from the steering box or rack and the top one is the return line from the hydrobooster.

Ok, great. But is it ok to just block of the upper one?

By the way. Do you think i can cut that return pipe so there is just a inch sticking out from the pump? If i use two hose clamps? I need that space...

I guess there is not so much preassure on the return side?

If you use the upper for PS return, it will aerate the fluid and be noisy. Block the upper, use the lower.
There's very little pressure in the return, only uses standard hose and clamp. You can cut it anywhere, but be sure there's some kind of ridge to prevent the hose from coming off.
