Default trans mount question.

how important is the plate steel piece that goes between the energy suspension trans mount and the transmission on 4l60e's. I could use a lil more clearance between the tunnel and the transmission, and not using hat plate will give me what i need. any thoughts?

Many users have used that mount without the pre-load plate for the reason you stated. It's strange that the height of the Energy Suspension mount is taller than that of the stock GM mount it replaces; the Prothane poly mount is the same height as the stock GM mount.

I'm no engineer but if you bolt the mount against a piece of steel imo It doesn't matter if you run the plate or not. Can anyone explain why it's necessary?
