Default LS3 wiring issue, need help

Hey all. Got an issue with the wiring on my LS3 swap in a 67 Camaro that has myself and some pretty savey techs confused, done a search here but really haven't seen an answer. The engine and management kit came from GM performance. I'm running a GM 25888970 alternator. Apparently the alternator is staying energized after we turn the car off, running the battery down if it sits a day or so. Right now it has the single orange wire from the engine harness hooked up to the L post (only wire hooked up to the 4 prong plug) and of course the battery post. Right now I have to disconnect the battery or alternator to get the alternator to unenergize, after that I can rehook it and the car will stay charged. Had the alternator tested and found nothing internal in it to cause the problem. Any ideas?

the single wire goes from ign through a resistor (or idiot light) then to pin b on the 4 pin connector. If is connected to the battery it will keep the field energised and run the battery down. There are plenty of stickys to show this. Steve

My gmpp harness also had the alternator plug. I'm not having any issues. On that harness the L terminal is wired to the ECU.

Another questain. It's been suggested that I dissconnect the orange wire going to the ecu and energize the alternator with a seperate 12V wire with a resistor or bulb. I'm also told it might set of the MIL. Anyone running one without the orange wire

The GMPP harness is not the issue. I suspect you have something wired incorrectly.
