Computer Communication Concerns
I hope nobody minds me placing this here... I am building a 1st-gen S10 Blazer 4x4 & currently have a 2006 L33 5.3 from a Sierra. With that motor I got the auto trans, wiring harnesses, belt-driven acc, fuse box, gauges, pedals, & steering column. Well, then I got into deeper thinking and measured the dash of an SSR which happens to be the same width as an S10 dash! So now I have won a complete 2004 SSR at auction. This has the LM4 5.3 setup and I understand the L33 is built better/beefier than the LM4. And of course, my Sierra trans is already 4x4 ready & the SSR is not.
Basically, I think that means I would prefer to use the 2006 Sierra motor and trans in a 2004 SSR that is being converted to SAS 4x4 with a different body. I am not sure what problems I am going to run into yet on the computing side. Can I use the complete L33 motor with the SSR computer? Can I adapt the trans AND the trans computer (with tow setting) of the Sierra to the SSR goodies? What is involved? Thanks up front from a total newb!
