I have searchED and come up with nothing and I don't know how important it is. I am swapping a LQ4 bored out TO A 408 with a drive by wire throttle body and A 4L80E transmission into a 1968 Camaro. I already have the car wiring. my question is should I go ahead and rewire the car while I'm waiting to get the engine finished OR wait so I know where everything IS doing and then rewire the car I appreciate any help. I feel like I am at a standstill at the moment

well how sanitary do you like your wiring? some people really like that hidden wires & tucked look.

I like to pre make my harness and leave extra length and loop it.

you can always come back and rewire later. in my experience when you are swapping you will probably have to change stuff around anyways.

I would rewire while waiting. As truckdoug said, probably going to have to change some things anyway. If you are rewiring the whole car, why not take care of the stuff in the back at least?

So....I have done my fair share of wiring and was recently hired to do a car.

If you are going to re-wire the whole car, get the wire in place now. However, before you can do the whole car completely, all of the hard components need to be in place, before you can run the wiring. All of your components need to be in place, otherwise you will be doing **** over and over again, which is a pain and can get expensive.

For the whole car I would do it now and get it functional with the current motor. Once you know everything is A-OK then swap in the LS. This way if/when you are troubleshooting later you can rule some things out from the get go. I'd then wait until after I dropped the motor in to make my LS-specific harness (is that what you're talking about when you say wiring?). Get it in, mocked up then pull the motor so you can get everything where you want it.
This is of course 100% theoretical and based purely on hindsight from having done the opposite of what I said.
