Need More Room Up Front
I've read that I can cut off the mechanical fan clutch threaded mounting stud since I'm not using a mechanical fan. That will gain me 3/4". But it appears that I can pick up even space if I go to a Corvette water pump and crank pulley/harmonic balancer.
I'm not worried about other accessories because there aren't any besides the alternator. I won't have A/C or power steering.
As far as the water pump goes, I prefer that the outlet come out the top of the water pump rather than out the front.
With all of that said, what water pump and crank pulley/harmonic balancer do you recommend that I go with and how much more space will I get by going with the recommended set-up? If I can pick up another inch, I would do it. Please include part numbers too.
BTW, I'm thinking about staying with the factory L96 truck intake, but I have a feeling I'll end up going with a car intake sooner or later.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Holley make a bracket that is the same as the Corvette placement, but uses the truck alternator. Although, I believe your alternator is PWM controlled and you will likely need to replace it anyway for your swap, but a truck alternator will be less expensive than the Corvette alternator.
Check out the Holley website for all options. You can buy almost new C6 balancers for under $100 dollars.

Thanks for the reply. I spent a lot of time over the weekend researching all of this. I discovered exactly what you said, except L96's have VVT. After reading many articles about VVT I decided to delete it. That will allow me to go with a CTS-V water pump which will support a 10 rib belt. Probably the same as a Corvette water pump. Doing this will save me 2 1/4" up front which is a huge help. Here's why I need more room up front.
I'll be running twin Rotrex C38-92 superchargers with intercoolers.
I bought this truck from the original owner who had it stored in his San Francisco California garage for more than 30 years. Hard tonneau cover on it since new from the dealer. Absolutely mint condition inside the bed. I'm lowering the truck about 3", but I think I'm staying with steelies and whitewalls.
1st Gen Couriers are 1.5" wider than a Smart Car. I have 29" from the firewall to the core support. With the CTS-V water pump, my setup will only be about 27". Intercoolers will be mounted between the core support and grille. The radiator will need to go in the bed.
