Hey all- well the ict billet sbc to ls adapter plates aren't going to work- I need to go back about 5/8" more than the deepest setting allows. To those of you that go direct to the crossmember with ls style mounts what is the go to option?

Not that it matters really but this is in an AMC Gremlin that previously had a gen 1 sbc I pulled for this 6.0 LQ4

I would assemble the plates to the engine, with the mount and frame mount all attached. Then drop the engine and mounts into the car and mark the location of the frame mounts where you need them to be. Remove the engine and drill new holes and attach the frame mounts to the frame.. (can new metal framing if needed as well as welding the mount to the frame/crossmember directly)

What do you mean by bolt on frame mounts? Thanks for your suggestions

can you weld? I am a fan of solid mounts. 3/16 HRS sheet and some 1-1/2" .188 wall DOM tube.

Yes but much better tacking or bolting and then welding on bench. I think I need a little rubber also to stop vibrations/sound correct?

Any pics? I guess I could copy the bolt pattern for a top plate and a bottom plate would be a lot easier to temporarily bolt/tack then the setup I was thinking below but no rubber/poly worries me?

There is a kit on eBay with some triangular plates and a pivot welded to a ls bolt pattern plate but welding inside the triangles plates on each side of the pivot could prove to be difficult. https://www.ebay.com/itm/252738630953

Most of the LSx adapter mount setup are based on Chevy SBC setup ups. That mean there are the SBC Motor Mounts and the Frame mount/stands that bolt to the frame/x-member and the Engine mount would sit in on/in the frame mounts and a cross bolt would secure them together.

Most if not every Chevy has a different configuration on the Frame Mount/Stand.. (at lease for the early Chevys). But the engine mount seems for the most part the same up till they started using the Clam Shell type of mounts.

For both of my Chevelle and Nova.. I just did what I suggested to make sure I got the engine where I wanted or needed to be. I have also welded the stands to the cross member on a few other swaps that I helped out with.

Clam shells on the frame, Dirty Dingo slider mounts on the block. Put it where you need it. Done.
