Wiring Harness Questions

and do you have this end where they cut the harness going back to cab?
except speed sensor pulse from transmission is you need it
if doing a can bus speedo or analog/manual then you wont need it
if speedo needs pulse you do need to tap into .
ecm X3 pin 48
48 0.5 PU/WH 821 VSS High Signal (MYD with NQF or NQG)
49 0.5 L-GN/BK 822 VSS Low Signal (MYD with NQF or NQG)
i had to put a pulse modifier on mine to get pulse rate down. for my speedo.
I'll make a spreadsheet from what you have there to see if I've got the connections right.
My friend is going to flash the ECU for me through HP tuners.
it may be a different shape but its going to be all the same wires.
If your lucky you have both ends. because it makes in nice if you have to pull the engine to disconnect.
You have to turn off the starter test option as well as the security stuff. hptuners tune.
ask me how long it took me to find that starter one before I could get it to start.
(i used hptuners as well) I also bought HP tuners so I could have the license key stay with truck. It also make it really nice to do some basic flashes when I needed to do minor things like setup for gear ratio and tire size for the transmission tune etc. well worth the dollars. that and a lot of tuners dont have a harness to fit the e78 so you have to do it thru the odb2 and its easy to mail the tunes to guys and then flash it myself.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
ones I am not using just tucked in under engine cover nice and neat. GM pay big money to engineers to make those layouts. why fix what is not broke. and it gives me extra wires already run if i need one. (which i did after cutting wrong one once)
i remember getting frustrated going back and forth that is why I took the picture and made my diagram.
spread sheet etc
because that harness varies between truck years its not as called out in the diagrams because it is essentially pass thru and only there when they need to pull the engine or lift the body off the truck.
your odb2 signal wires colors should match.
i also hooked up the brake pedal sensor wires as well. i really liked the engine braking that is stock with this truck engine and transmission
The line up with my spec,
Brown/white is your check engine light on /off wire
Dark green and white brake on indicator for trans
Dark blue I possible see in the back could be the Accessory Wakeup Serial Data circuit
The tan/black and tan on left are your gmlan communications.
