I have not checked the wires but I did replace the switch and checked the engine ignition wire in all of the switch positions. I'll check it again when I get home from work.

Well I have some good news and I have some bad news.
Good news is, everything is now working as normal.
The bad news is, I didnt actually fix anything.
I checked the ignition wires and there wasnt any power coming from them. So I hooked everything back up and its all back to normal. I wiggled the wires around to see if that would get something to short again with no luck. Im at a complete loss and now I dont trust my Chevelle which really takes the fun out of cruising.

Your car just wants to run/drive! Give it what it wants.
Sometimes just removing and reinstalling gets those connections back to being normal and functioning, but I completely understand the trust thing too.
But if we wanted a warranty, we would have bought a new car, not restomod an old one
