New to the LS world! Please please help!
Good Morning!
As the title states I am new to the LS world. I currently have a 1970 cutlass that I want to do an LSX swap with.
i have so many questions and I don't even know where to begin!
I want to push out around 600 hp to the wheels. I am headed to the junkyard this weekend to look at engine blocks. I am looking to get a 6.0 and get the work done. I was quoted $8500 to achieve the hp that I wanted. Does that sound about right?
is there any place that I can go (website, book, anything) to learn about the platform? I built a 383 for my 87 cutlass but I know this is a totally different ball game. I want to at least attempt to build it myself and if I can't then I will take it somewhere to get it done. Where can I learn about building the motor. Is there an LS for dummies anywhere?!!
Also, what makes an LS an lsx? Is it the way the motor is built?
Who can school me on the LS platform and give me some advice to get the desired hp that I want out of the motor.
Talk to me like I am a dummy! Please and thank you
The most streetable way to get that power is with forced induction.
For swap components, look at the whole Holley swap system for 68-72 GM A-bodies.
LSx is the designation for the GM iron block. It is also a generic shortcut when referring to various Gen 3 or Gen 4 engine...
