LS Jeep with Atlas transfer case

Ok, Assume i know pretty much nothing about LS engines. Im a Jeep guy. Ive done just about everything else to my Jeep. Now starting to think engine swap to replace a tired old 4.0. The fabrication aspect isn't an issue. Looking for the best option to fit my needs. Current set up:

1 ton 14 bolt axles front and rear, 5:38 gears with full spools.
Advanced Adapters 4 speed Atlas transfer case double low 10.3:1 ratio
39" BFG crawler tires competition red label compound (drag slicks with tread)

I want to run an auto trans, it offers more control when offloading.

Any recommendation on engine/trans combos and best options for getting them? what cars come with them?

Since you aren't likely to be doing a lot of interstate long miling with that Jeep,I would go with a slightly warmed up DBC 6.0 mated to a TH400,if you really need O/D,make it a 4L80E.If you haven't yet,read the almost 300 pages of 5.3 swaps over on pirate4x4,lots of good info sandwiched in the usual forum repetition and BS.
