Default Torn between LS swap or Poncho power

Hey guys, I've been restoring a 64 GTO that I purchased last year. I got my PHS documents showing the car is a true GTO now and I can't decide what to do with the engine. The car has a year correct 389 with Tri-power, but it's not numbers matching and needs to be rebuilt. It looks to have come from a 64 Catalina.

My question is do you think the car would appeal to a larger crowd with a modern LS engine and trans in it or with a period correct tri power motor even if it isn't numbers matching?

I'm building this car to sell it next year.

If its a true GTO and you're building it to sell, I would probably go with the tri power, I think that would yield your best profit. Just my opinion though.

I agree with above. First year GTOs are rare and valuable. If you are flipping it, keeping it pontiac will be your best bet. You won't recoup any of your investment on an LS swap on this car, and doing so would greatly narrow your potential buyer base. If you were keeping it long term, i'd say do the swap.

In my opinion a real 64 GTO needs Pontiac power, keep the 389
