Default Pedal too long can I weld it ?

I've got a DBW # 1007 Pedal from PSI, its too long. My question is can I cut it and reweld it back together without harming the electronic sensor.

Thanks, Tony

I attached the biggest vice grips I had above and below the weld area to create big heat sinks - wrapped the vice grips
and the switch in damp rags. Just welded a little at a time. Switch stayed cool as the other side of the pillow. Probably overkill -- but, I didn't want to overheat the electronics....
