5.3 Problems with idle. Need Help! Morning, I have a 5.3 in my 71 Monte Carlo. To start it I have to give it a couple of shots of starter fluid.
The car won't stay running unless I put a little load on it while I have a plug in the vacuum port (circled in white).
If I get it started with spray and leave the port unplugged (get a p0106) the car stays on with no load.
Also I can hear my fuel pressure regulator.

runs good with a vacuum leak...sounds like you need to tune the idle.
google up TPS reset/IAC learn.
you don't even need a programmer to do it, but it's nice to have something to monitor TPS voltage and IAC counts.
