Need the weight of an old 350 engine block Can you tell me the weight of a 350 engine block. (No top of the engine, it's open.) It came out of an old work truck, that's about all I know about it. Sorry, female and not mechanically inclined. Just looking to sell it for the steel because I am tired of weed eating around it. It's rusty, so nobody wants it.
Here's a bump - I've never weighed an old "short block" -- does it have the rods/pistons/crank in it, or just the bare block?
If you're scrapping it -- when you go to the scrap yard, they'll weigh you before and after it's been removed from your vehicle, and then they'll pay you for the difference. If you know you're scrapping it, the only weight that matters is the one that shows up on their scale.
FWIW - I was able to find a range of about 150-175 lbs for a bare block when I searched around on the web.
