Default Gotta swap

I just bought a 1998 Chevy pickup truck single cab it has a 4.3 Vortec V6 in it I'd really like to put a 5.3 LS motor in it and can't decide if I need to go about it stand-alone fuel management or if I can actually make the wiring harness from the donor vehicle work and the donor vehicle is probably going to be a 2007 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 I would also like to do a Comp Cam mild nothing major and a few other modifications maybe a set of heads or port and polish the heads that's there and just freshen up the bottom in not really do a boar or anything major to the bottom in so my question is is it possible to convert a wiring harness from an original 5.3 L truck to convert over to a 1998 4.3 V6 liter truck obviously I know I'll have to change the entire harness and computer but there's other plugs that it will have to convert and coincide with the new harness is this all possible or does it have to be carbureted or stand-alone fuel management?

I think the 2007 engine is a drive by wire so not much will work from the old setup. If you can get the trans from the donor vehicle too that would be the hot ticket. An aftermarket harness would solve a bunch of headaches.

I know in the v8 trucks (96-99) you can re-pin the factory 5.7 vortec harness to work with the LS but not sure about the v6 trucks. I got a pinout sheet for my swap from member lextech on here so maybe send him a PM and see if he has one for v6 trucks. I would imagine they are very similar harnesses but don't know for sure.

not sure what part of my statement you are referring to. I'm merely guessing that the harnesses would be similar v8 to v6 as the 4.3 is pretty much a 5.7 with the back two cylinders chopped off
