Everything should plug right in. You WILL need to tune it though....

The differences between an 02 LS1 and an LS6 are very small. Its not worth the effort to do an entire swap.

With an LS6 cam, 243 heads, and a tune, you basically have an LS6 for less than $1000 in mods.

Good call Joe. I went in with the thought that the LS1 was shot or needing work, though that never was brought up. And with what you said, a decent aftermarket cam and 799 heads (now easier to find than 243's) plus the tune would set him up nicely.

With it being an '02 chances are it's an LS6 block already correct?

Only a possibility; due to a shortage of LS1 blocks SOME LS6 blocks made it into Camaros. 2001-2002 LS1 Camaros DID get LS6 intakes however.

For a LS6 the power is not in the block. LS6 has a different cam, different heads, and a different intake (which I believe many 02 LS1s got as well)...

I was just saying in Joes case. If the block is already an LS6, change a few parts for cheaper than buying a whole engine. The swap he originally wanted is done.
