4X4 VSS Questions I asked this question over on the Auto Trans board not getting any help maby someone here can help
Hi All,
So Im swapping in a 2002 5.3 LM7 with a TH350 and NP205 transfer case
into my 1971 jeep Commando. Ive done one swap before into my 64 ElCo
but im stuck on the 4X4 and adapting the VSS. The VSS will come out of the transfer case at the old speedo drive output. Ive read on LT1swap that a
4000 PPM vss is what I need but also have read a 8000 pulse will work like this one from Dakota Digital

One other possible issue I might have is how will I let the PCM know when the transfer case is in low or high range or is this even necessary?

pcm uses Hi/lo info for shift routines, since pcm doesnt control the TH350 it doesnt need to know range seletction...DD has a 2 wire VSS generator that you could use in the TH350 for your VSS input
Most transfer cases have a switch for an indicator light,you can use that or a simple toggle switch to send a signal to the PCM. It only likes to know if you are in four low for some of the parameters,it is not essential though.
