Takes 4 seconds to start after engine is warm I have a 5.3 out of a 02 Silverado in my 87 Chevy truck.I did not install it but I have done a lot of work to it.I have replaced the in tank fuel pump with a Ac Delco EP381.Since it did not have a fuel filter on it I plumbed a high pressure filter in the supply line between the tank and fuel rail.The return from the engine goes all the way back to the tank.I used rubber fuel injection hose on all connections.I know this is not the best way using rubber maybe I will redo it later..
The problem I am having is when engine gets up to operating temp. and you shut it off and wait 10-60 mins.And try to start it takes it too long to light off 3-5 seconds.It starts right up just like a LS is supposed to every time when it is cold.Or if you are up to operating temp shut it off and immediately start it back up it starts like it is supposed to.It is like after you shut off the exhaust heat is rising heating up the rubber fuel line's.
I have checked the fuel pressure and I am sure it is ok.I had my tuner to come out and look at all the tables and they look like they are supposed to.I am 99% sure it is not a pressure or a tune problem.
Could it be vapor locking because of my rubber fuel lines above the exhaust? The filter I added?Could it help if I bought the Corvette style regulator/filter and ran my return to it instead of the tank? Please Help!

DO you know if the injectors were swapped out for larger ones? I had an issue like this on my ZL-1 when I increased injector size after adding a pulley, CAI and longtubes. My tuner got my full throttle tune set up, but the partially cooled down start tune was throwing way too much fuel in it. He delayed the injector enrichment a little bit and it corrected the problem. When it does start, does it blow a lot of black smoke?
