Default E38 Harness, what can I eliminate?

I'm going through my new (to me) E38 harness and converting it to a standalone harness along with routing wires as clean as I can, adding pretty loom, etc. Does anyone have a list of connectors that are ok to remove? I see things like Oil pressure sensor, transmission temp, etc that Im not sure if the PCM actually uses, or if they just pass through to the BCM. (which I wouldnt have)

Im guessing I could disable this stuff in HP Tuners if I remove it, but if I can do something fancy like "turn off the engine if oil pressure goes below xxx" or "adjust rpm or speed limit if transmission temp is above xxx" Id want to retain that functionality.

Does anyone have a good place to point me with what the E38 does with the input for all of the sensors it collects by chance? I dont know how to search for that info well and Im sure its out there somewhere

Thats the link Ive been using as a pinout, but what that doesnt tell me is what happens if the PCM doesnt get signal on some of this stuff. So for example:

0.5 TN/WH 585 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Signal (M10)
0.5 BN/L-BU 357 Oil Temperature Sensor Signal (MYC)

What if the PCM doesnt get signal on these? What does the PCM do if it DOES get signal on them? Can I make it where the rev limiter goes ultra low if the oil temp is too high (aka save my engine) for example, because Id want to ensure I got that wired in. If its nothing but a pass through to the gauge, I want it removed.

Here is a list of all the things I think I'd remove, but I dont know what (if anything) I lose from the PCM capabilities if I do.

9 0.5 L-BU/WH 6311 Brake Pedal Switch Signal
16 0.5 D-BU 1936 Fuel Level Sensor Signal
21 0.5 OG 6030 Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Signal (L99)
24 0.5 D-GN 890 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Signal - Pin 1
26 0.5 YE 6111 Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Signal (M10)
31 0.5 BN/WH 6281 Low Reference - Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Pin 2 & Fuel Level Sensor Pin 3
33 0.5 GY 2709 5-Volt Reference 1 - Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Pin 3
42 0.5 WH 6110 Low Reference (M10) - Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Pin C
52 0.5 PU/WH 6386 Starter Relay Control
53 0.5 GY 6031 5-Volt Reference 2 (L99) - Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Pin 3
54 0.5 TN 6109 5-Volt Reference 2 (M10) - Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Pin A
59 0.5 YE 5991 Powertrain Relay Control - PCM controls relay to power up fuses: F5U, F9U, F10U, F7U, F8U
61 0.5 WH 1310 EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid Control
70 0.5 L-BU 1937 Fuel Level Sensor Signal - Secondary
8 0.5 D-GN/WH 428 EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Control - Pin B
0.5 TN/WH 585 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Signal (M10)
0.5 BN/L-BU 357 Oil Temperature Sensor Signal (MYC)
24 0.5 OG/BK 586 Low Reference (M10) - Manual Trans Fluid Temp Sensor Pin A
33 0.5 BN 1174 Oil Level Switch Signal
41 0.5 GY 2705 5-Volt Reference 1 - Oil Pressure Sensor Pin 2
50 0.5 TN/WH 331 Oil Pressure Sensor Signal - Pin 1

I think I eliminated all of those on mine except oil pressure related connections. If you are running an auto electronic transmission you may need some of them.

I'm in the same boat, Crash. I've read those charts a dozen times and made my own spreadsheets of them, but I still have lots of questions on the 2010 L99 pinouts. It seems a bit incomplete, like the X102 connector is not colored in. Also I think Brendan makes some assumptions about his swap wiring that are unstated. Questions like: "is the L99 wiring going into a auto or manual trans?" And "Are you keeping AFM/DOD/VVT etc?"

fwiw, I ran across a setting in HP Tuners on the stock tune called "Oil starvation protection" that near as I can tell will turn the engine off if the oil pressure goes below a threshold for 5 seconds. Im still researching (not much said about this) to see if thats true or not though

That's very interesting and a nice idiot-proofing feature if it works.

Well that must not be active on a stock tune then. We see the VLOM filters clogged all the time and no oil pressure reading. The engines still run fine.

Bumping this, because upon searching I happened to run across my own thread! Im doing another E38 harness, but this time I'm doing an AUTO harness. Its an L99 with 6L80e that Ive converted to an LS3 + 6L80e

What does the Brake Booster vacuum sensor do? I am trying to figure out if I can remove it or not

not 100% on this but on some applications i think there is a vacuum pump for the brake booster system so id imagine the sensor is there to know when to turn the pump on.
